The new future statement that worries the star Frida Karlsson – now hoping for change: “Klump in the heart”

Frida Karlsson is one of the leading cross-country skiers.
Recently, she received a message that risks her future in the sport.
– When I think about it, I get a lump in my heart, says Karlsson to Expressen.

This weekend was Sweden’s premiere in cross-country skiing. Then there was no victory for Frida Karlsson in any competition, but she managed a second place in the 10 kilometer freestyle. The winner was the surprise Moa Ilar.

Karlsson in the Olympics

Now the ski season has started! The World Cup starts this weekend in Ruka. The Swedish squad includes the aforementioned Frida Karlsson and Moa Ilar. Also riders who Ebba Andersson, Jonna Sundling and Lynn Svahn. Expectations for the Swedish riders are high in Sweden and Europe.

However, they will have to show their best sides in the World Cup and Tour de Ski, as it is a non-championship season. Then the World Ski Championships in 2025 in Trondheim and the Olympics in 2024 in Paris await.
Frida Karlsson has participated in an Olympic Games before, the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. Then it was bronze in the relay.

Frida’s worries

At the moment, the championships are going on without any major problems. But there is great concern for the future. The International Olympic Committee has presented a report that only ten countries will be able to host the 2040 Winter Olympics due to a lack of snow.
24-year-old Frida Karlsson is not expected to compete at that championship, but expresses great concern about the news anyway.
– It is tragic and worrying. Now we are starting to act and think more about the climate in our sport. But I don’t really understand why we don’t do more when we are hit so hard by it, says Karlsson to Expressen.

Ahead of this season, a fluoride ban has been introduced in all skiing, partly because it damages the environment. But Frida thinks they should be done more.
– The fluoride ban is a small thing. But if you compare it, for example, to what all travel causes, there is a lot more to do that would have been more important.
– It is very sad (that the sport may disappear). When I think about it, I get a lump in my heart, says Karlsson to the evening newspaper.
