Armand Duplantis is not only superior in pole vaulting.
But also within the whole of athletics.
New figures show that he is completely crushing icons like Usain Bolt.
Armand Duplantis continues to exceed everyone’s expectations. He broke through as a super talent and it was with strained eyes that the news came that he had chosen to compete for Sweden, and not the USA where he was raised, with an American father and Swedish mother.
Incredible career
Armand Duplantis was the great promise who broke youth record after youth record, and once he started competing in big competitions against much older pole vaulters, he immediately showed that everyone was right to dream big about him. Now Armand Duplantis is 24 years old, but he has already managed to win everything there is to win, breaking ten world records.
Armand Duplantis defended his Olympic gold at this summer’s games in Paris, and he also caused a packed arena to completely explode when he broke a new world record, with a jump of 6.25. That record only stood for 20 days before the next record came, when Duplantis flew over 6.26 during a gala in Poland. Armand Duplantis has now jumped the ten highest jumps in the history of the pole vault, and his superiority is something that constantly amazes the world of athletics.
Crushes Bolt himself
But it is actually not only in the pole vault that Duplantis is completely superior. According to the official rankings, he is the most superior world number one in all of athletics since the ranking system was introduced, and there are actually few who beat him when it comes to world records as well. The Indian magazine Sport Star has made a compilation of world records over the years, and even there it is demonstrated exactly how dominant Duplantis actually is.
The highest jump in the world not made by Duplantis came from Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie in 2014, when he jumped 6.16 meters. Armand Duplantis has now jumped 6.26, making his record 1.623 percent better than his rival’s. To put that into perspective, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, when he broke the 28-year-old world record in the 3000 meters last week, was only 0.71 percent better than the second fastest. But even Usain Bolt has to see himself defeated by Mondo, as his senseless record in the 100 meters is “only” 1.15 percent better than the runner-up, Tyson Gay.
