The new expansion aims to test survival experts in a hellish area

The survival game Valheim has received a new expansion called “Ashlands”. The update is already live and brings a new area to the game that the developers say is not for the faint of heart.

What expansion is it about? The survival game Valheim has received a new update called Ashlands. A test phase already ran at the end of April, and the expansion is now accessible to everyone and can be played.

Ashlands primarily brings a new biome, i.e. area, into the game. At first glance, the new region appears to be very hostile to people. Hot, boiling waters, undead, valkyries and other new enemies should make life difficult for even experienced players.

“We’re entering endgame territory here.”

What does Ashlands offer? According to the developers, the expansion is clearly endgame content. This means that you should head into the dangerous region well prepared. Numerous challenges await the players. But they apparently like it challenging anyway.

In order to cross the waters already mentioned, you need sturdy ships. Building outposts should also become more important and feel like a constant battle. To attack enemy bases, siege weapons can be built, such as catapults or battering rams.

The game’s producer, Andreas Tomasson explains:

Ashlands should feel like a fight and players should expect a challenge. Every square inch of territory you claim must be fought for, and every outpost must be reinforced before you advance deeper. We’re entering endgame territory here and players need to be prepared for what’s to come in the Deep North

To combat the new enemy types, the update also brings over 30 new weapons and 70 new items into the game. There is also new music, interesting new locations and events, which also improves the overall impression of the survival game. Valheim is already at the forefront of its genre and can also be found in our list of the best survival games.

What’s next? As things stand, Ashlands brings the penultimate biome into play. All that remains is the Deep North, a region full of ice and snow. So quite a contrast to the fiery Ashlands.

Valheim can be played on PC and is still in Early Access. Have you played Valheim and already set off for the new region? Write us in the comments how it went for you. Two enthusiastic players have created a completely new game within Valheim – you can read all about it on MeinMMO.
