What about the MonsterVerse? It’s been relatively quiet since Godzilla vs. Kong’s theatrical release Cinematic Universe by Warner and Legendary. But the titans have not been up to mischief on the big screen for the last time. The next adventure with Godzilla and Kong is already in the works.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the epic title of the sequel. He immediately reveals the most important thing: After Godzilla and Kong last went for each other’s throats, they stand this time as allies facing a great danger. However, nothing is known about the villain of the new film.

Along with Godzilla and Kong, a few familiar human faces also return in The New Empire. Rebecca Hall takes the part of dr Ilene Andrews up again while Brian Tyree Henry his Bernie Hayes brings back from the predecessor. The biggest addition to the cast is Dan Stevens (Legion, The Guest).

Adam Wingard is set to direct The New Empire. He already had that before first showdown staged between the legendary cinema monsters. It’s the first time in MonsterVerse history that a director has shot two films back-to-back. Previously at work were Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) and Michael Dougherty (Godzilla: King of the Monsters).

We’ll have to wait a little longer before Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire hits theaters. The monster blockbuster only starts on March 14, 2024 in German cinemas. It is the fifth film in all of the MonsterVerse.
