Soon it will be time for the long-awaited hockey World Cup.
And now Tre Kronor gets much-needed reinforcements for the championship.
Today it became clear that as many as five NHL Swedes have agreed to play.
We are approaching the month of May and that means it will be time for the hockey WC to end the Swedish hockey season. The SC final has already been played and soon also the promotion to the SHL – then all eyes turn to Finland and Latvia for the hunt for WC gold.
Ready for the WC
Now Tre Kronor has received a very welcome dream message to the world championship in the form of much-needed reinforcement from the NHL. There, as many as five players from North America agree to pull on the blue-yellow national team shirt and represent Sweden.

The Swedish NHL players who are ready for the hockey World Cup are Jakob Silfverberg, Lucas Raymond, Jonathan Berggren, Rasmus Sandin and Alexander Nylander. Tre Kronor announces that all five will join the WC squad for the Czech Hockey Games next week.

The Hockey World Cup then starts on May 12 and the Swedish national team is waiting for further reinforcements from the NHL, where the Stanley Cup playoffs are currently underway. The big stars Elias Pettersson and Rasmus Dahlin is said to have also accepted, but Tre Kronor has not announced anything there yet.

Then it remains to be seen which more names will be named as new national team captains Sam Hallam succeeds in persuading before his very first championship as national team coach. But Tre Kronor already seems to be putting together a really good WC squad.
