The new DLC “The Finale Form” has been postponed by several months

After insider information had already caused unrest in the Destiny 2 community, Bungie has now officially confirmed that the original release date for the upcoming DLC The Final Form cannot be met. MeinMMO tells you what has been announced and how you want to bridge the time.

This is now official: At the end of October, there were reports from gaming journalist Jason Schreier’s insiders that Bungie would probably have to postpone its final DLC in the “Light and Darkness” saga for several months. What was initially just a rumor has now been officially confirmed by the developer.

  • Instead of February 27, 2024, the DLC The Finale Form will now only appear in June 2024.
  • Bungie told players the following:

The Final Form is the final chord of the first ten years of the Destiny story and the countless hours the Guardians have spent together. We want to honor this journey and are therefore taking the time we need to realize an even bigger and bolder vision that will hopefully be remembered for years to come.

wrote the developer on his website bungie.net

Bungie has thus confirmed what many players had already hoped. More time will be spent on The Final Form to ensure it meets the standards the Destiny 2 community deserves.

However, it didn’t stop with written information. Game director Joe Blackburn also personally addressed the Guardians in a video to inform them directly about the postponement. He also revealed details about what the team will be working on between now and June.

This is the timetable until June 2024: For the Guardians, the postponement not only means a longer wait for the final DLC in the saga about the traveler and the darkness. It also means that there is now a long period ahead, during which there will probably be little to do.

However, Bungie has already shared a rough schedule of what will happen in these months.

  • The Season of Wish begins as scheduled on November 28, 2023 and will continue until June, when The Final Form is released.
  • The majority of the season content and story in the Season of Wish will run as planned from the end of November to the end of February.
  • Starting in February 2024, there will also be new weekly quests based on your progress called Wishes, as well as the introduction of Moments of Triumph with unique rewards.
  • The Guardian Games will be moved to March 2024 and will focus more on class versus class competition.
  • Starting in April there will be a two-month content update called Destiny 2: Into the Light, which is intended to prepare all Guardians for the journey into the Traveler.
  • The PvP Strike Team update will also appear as planned in May 2024, which will also include three new PvP maps that players can then discover.

The developers conclude their message by thanking the community and asking them to continue supporting them during this delay. The journey may take longer than expected, but Bungie assures Guardians that the wait will be worth it when The Final Form finally sees the light of day in June 2024.

Guardians will be able to see brand new gameplay for the DLC for the first time as early as April 2024, when Bungie presents the new content that is currently still in development.

What do you think about Bungie’s decision to delay Final Form until June 2024? Are you willing to wait longer for a quality gaming experience? Or is the official confirmation now a valid reason for you to leave the game forever. Feel free to tell us in the comments.
