The healthcare association is now sounding the alarm that the strained staff situation in healthcare can lead to patient safety being compromised.
The increased number of covid infections in recent weeks has put severe pressure on the staff, with many also becoming ill themselves. At Norrtälje Hospital, they have been forced to order in staff from the holidays.
– It’s the worst summer so far – that’s what my colleagues say. The shortage of our colleagues is so great that it affects the patients with medical injuries, says Sineva Ribeiro, union president Vårdförbundet.
Elderly care also reports a higher number of infected compared to the same period in the past two years.
