The new champion in LoL comes from Arcane and is every ADC’s nightmare

The arrival of a new champion is imminent in League of Legends and the face is not a new one. Ambessa Medarda is a champion who appeared in Arcane Season 1. Riot has now presented their abilities and they are fully designed for mobility.

What can Ambessa Medarda do? Ambessa Medarda is a new bruiser champion designed primarily for the topplane. Fans of Arcane will already know her. Thanks to its mobility, it could also work in the jungle. Your abilities don’t cost mana, but rather energy. She relies heavily on mobility.

  • Passive ability: If Ambessa makes an attack or move while using an ability, she dashes a short distance after using the ability. After she uses an ability, she gains bonus range, damage, attack speed, and she regains energy.
  • Q ability: In a sickle form, she deals damage with her blades. If she hits an enemy, she can reactivate the ability to deal damage with the blades in a columnar area.
  • W ability: Ambessa gets a shield and jumps forward a small distance. It deals damage when landing. If it blocks non-minion damage during the jump, it deals additional damage.
  • E-ability: Ambessa uses her blades to deal damage at a small distance around her. If her passive is activated, she will cause damage around herself again after the dash.
  • R ability: Ambessa charges at an enemy in a long area with a skillshot. This is thrown up and can’t do anything during it. After throwing it up, the opponent is stunned and takes damage.
  • As you can see from her abilities, Ambessa relies primarily on mobility and the damage from her abilities. She reminds me of Renekton.

She will probably appear again in Arcane Season 2:

How good will Ambessa be? Since we don’t yet know how much damage she does, it’s hard to say, but we can say that her mobility will make her quite powerful. With her dashes she can roam quickly, track opponents and also trade well in lane.

ADCs in particular will have fun with Ambessa, as they are usually quite immobile and Ambessa is perfect for hunting them. It will probably go in a similar direction to Renekton or K’Sante.

However, in a Reddit thread with almost 7,000 upvotes, you can tell that players are not particularly enthusiastic about their mobility. The creator of the thread says that after 14 years of LoL, the end of mobility creep has come. By this he means the development that newer champions are significantly more mobile than the old champions and this creates an imbalance. The community sees it similarly and jokes:

  • III-Preparation6512: You could still release a character like Hwei who has a dash for every skill + every secondary skill. It can always go higher.
  • BlobChain: I thought this post was exaggerated – then I read what Ambessa does.
  • Free Birds: You’re wrong. Your Q can trigger two dashes. It’s not just one dash on each ability, it’s multiple dashes you stupid goose.
  • When does Ambessa Medarda appear? Ambessa Medarda will be released with patch 14.22 on November 6, 2024. The first chapter of Arcane Season 2 will also be released in the same week. In the course of this, in-game events will also appear in various Riot games.
