The police are busy ahead of the Walpurgis fair.
The authority is currently handing out tips on how you as a parent can prevent your child from drinking, what to do if you suspect alcohol smuggling and reminders not to litter during the celebration.
In particular, the police in Uppsala, one of Sweden’s largest student cities, have prepared for Walborg.
This year, camera surveillance takes center stage, and it’s not just any camera surveillance. In Uppsala, drones with cameras will be flying around.
– They are there to improve our work, says Mathias Rutegårdpress spokesperson at the Police in Mitt, to News24.

The drones aim to supplement the stationary cameras that are set up in central Uppsala. On your website the police write that the drones will be in the air from 8 a.m. on April 30 until 5 a.m. on May 1.
While the police drones will be flying around, there is a flight ban for other craft in the same area.

Can you have a fire in the garden? This decides
Why have you chosen to use drones during Valborg?
– If we receive a report that something is happening, we have time to check with the drone before we send out the patrol, says Rutegård, and continues:
– If we didn’t have camera surveillance and a crime had taken place, we would have sent a patrol to the center of the incident. With drones and camera surveillance, we can instead follow a potential perpetrator immediately when the crime is called in and then send the patrol to where the perpetrator is.
Are there any particular crimes you hope to prevent with drones?
– I cannot make any speculations about that, says Rutegård to Nyheter24.
