Artist of the Netherlands Joost Klein will not perform in the final of the Eurovision song contest 2024. This is now announced by the EBU.
– We are currently investigating an incident that was reported to us and that involves the Dutch artist, said a spokesperson from the EBU to Aftonbladet.
Denied during the genre rep
After the Netherlands’ artist Joost Klein was refused to perform his entry during Friday’s genre rep, the singer has acted in several ways against the Eurovision song contest 2024.
When Klein was supposed to perform his song “Europapa” on the genre rope, it instead moved on to the next artist up: Israel’s Eden Golan with his contribution “Hurricane”. The Eurovision producer Henrik von Zweigbergk was booed when he announced that Klein would not rehearse on Friday.

According to several media, the background is stated to be an “incident” between the artist and a female employee in the production. The Malmö police got involved and interrogated both Klein and the plaintiff.
It is still unclear whether Klein will be allowed to compete in the final.

Marking against Eurovision: Unfollowing on Instagram
After he was denied to perform, Klein followed Eurovision on Instagram and deleted several events from the social media platform that were specifically about the contest. It was De Telegraaf first to report on.
The Dutch flag that hung on his door has been taken down.

As a result, several tags have spread on social media. Several fans support Joost Klein with slogans like #freejoostklein and #justiceforklein.
In a previous post on Instagram, he is seen with the former Eurovision participant Dear who on Friday clearly distanced himself from Israel’s participation in the Eurovision song contest 2024, something that Klein also did during a press conference.
