SINGLE PURCHASE. A young man is suspected of having killed a female employee at a nursing home in Enköping.
There are a few villas around the residence and several of the neighbors have reacted strongly to what happened.
– It’s terrible that something like this happens, says one of the neighbors who lives a stone’s throw from the murder scene.
At lunchtime on Thursday, the police in Enköping were alerted that a resident had killed a female employee at a nursing home.
Once there, the police found the dead woman. A man in his 20s who is listed at the address was quickly arrested and taken for questioning.
The accommodation is located on the outskirts of Enköping right next to a major road. Only a few people live in the otherwise peaceful area. Now they are suddenly neighbors with a suspected murder scene.
– It is clear that it is unpleasant that this kind of thing happens. It’s terrible, says one of the neighbors who lives just a stone’s throw from the site.
“Thought it was an accident”
The neighbor tells Aftonbladet that she was at home when the police drove by towards the residence.
– We thought it was a normal accident because there is a bigger road out here. Then I didn’t think much more about it.
At this point, she did not know that a woman had been found dead in the area. It was only when her husband called that she realized what was wrong with him.
– You get really scared and worried. Something like this just can’t happen.
Newly opened accommodation
Enköpings-Posten reports that the nursing home is newly opened and the business has only been running for a month.
Several of the neighbors that Aftonbladet has spoken to still call the house “the old boarding house”. Until 2018, there was a well-visited guest house on the site. After that, the guesthouse was empty. A large sign with the boarding house’s logo still stands outside the nursing home.
It is a clear indication of how new the nursing home is, say several of the neighbors. Many in the area have been skeptical that the accommodation was built on the site. No one thought that anything like this could happen in the area.
Although the incident has shaken many, most say they do not feel afraid.
– It seems to be an isolated incident, states one of the neighbours.
