NBA basketball club Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic has died. Among other things, the Serbian served as a mentor to his compatriot, two-time MVP player Nikola Jokic.
Golden State assistant coach Dejan Milojevic has died of a heart attack in Salt Lake City, the NBA announced late Wednesday.
– We are shocked by the sudden passing of Dejan Milojevic.
“This is a shocking and tragic blow to the entire Warriors community and an incredibly difficult time for his family, loved ones and all of us who had the incredible pleasure of working with him,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr said in a statement released by the team.
The 46-year-old coach made his own playing career in Europe and moved to coaching the Warriors in the summer of 2021. He was one of the club’s NBA champion coaches in 2022.
The Utah Jazz, who are on a six-game winning streak, will not play the home game against the Golden State Warriors scheduled for Thursday morning Finnish time.
Lauri Markkanen represented by the Jazz will play the next NBA game on Friday morning, when the Oklahoma City Thunder will be their guest.
