“Talked to President Erdogan about terrorism and the situation in the Middle East. We agree that terrorism must be fought and civilians protected. I welcome that emergency aid is now reaching Gaza. We also brought up Sweden’s NATO membership,” writes Stoltenberg on X, formerly Twitter.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will meet Stoltenberg in Stockholm on Tuesday next week. Kristersson recently told TT that he “is convinced that this will be resolved relatively soon”.
Turkey and Hungary are the only of NATO’s 31 member countries that have not yet ratified Sweden’s application for membership.
