The NATO application on the agenda of the Hungarian parliament

Sweden’s NATO application is on the Hungarian parliament’s agenda in the special session on Monday, at the request of the opposition, Reuters reports.
However, the government party Fidez is said not to participate during the session and then a valid decision cannot be made.

The Member of Parliament for the opposition party DC, Agnes Vadai stated during the morning for TV4 Nyheterna that the governing party Fidesz will not participate in the session and that they also did not participate in a meeting earlier in the day when the agenda was discussed.

According to Vadai, Fidez did not give any reason why it did not attend the meeting.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has previously said that there is no rush to approve Sweden’s application before parliament reconvenes on February 26.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán can already meet today at the EU summit in Brussels. Orbán has previously invited Kristersson to Budapest to discuss the application.
