Two weeks until the season premiere.
Then comes a disturbing message about Jonna Sundling.
Now the national team responds.
– We’ll see when she’s ready to step on the gas, says her trainer to SVT.
Jonna Sundling is the great giant of the sprinting world, and her last year has really proven how superior she is. She won Olympic gold last winter, World Cup gold the year before that, and as she enters the new season, she does so as the big favorite.
Disturbing news
Jonna Sundling has had a great summer when it comes to training, and says she is in good shape. But with only weeks until the start of the season, a disturbing message about the star came on Thursday. Sundling has been with the national team at a camp in Vålådalen, but has now been forced to leave.
The ski season is only two weeks away. On November 18, the season begins nationally with competitions in Bruksvallarna, and the following week the World Cup begins with sprints in Ruka. But since Sundling has been forced to leave the camp, there is uncertainty about whether she will start or not, and it will now be a battle against the clock.

“Safe before the uncertain”
The announcement is worrying, especially since it is already clear that Linn Svahn will not start during the premiere either. Now Sundling’s personal trainer, Magnus Ingesson, answers how the situation is with Sundling.
– Jonna is physically fit but has had a bit of a whooping cough every now and then in recent days. That’s why we choose to take the safe side before the safe side so as not to risk her getting sick. We follow the progress every day and then we’ll see when Jonna is ready to step on the gas again, he tells SVT.
Jonna Sundling missed the national team’s internal distance race on Wednesday, where Ebba Andersson won by far ahead of Emma Ribom. Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Linn Svahn have all chosen to leave the national team’s training group for their own venture towards next season, and thus have not been at the camp in Vålådalen either.
