The national team’s completely honest words about Stina Nilsson – after a brutally heavy start to the season: “We must…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Stina Nilsson has had a tough start to the biathlon season.
And the national team coach Johannes Lukas admits that the fluency was not there for Nilsson.
– It is good to forget biathlon for a few days, he says.

The Swedish biathlon ladies have made good results in the run-up to the biathlon season, there above all Elvira Öberg along with the giant scarecrow Anna Magnusson impressed greatly. The latter recently took his very first victory in his career after a great effort in Annecy, France.

Heavy introduction

But for Stina Nilsson it has been a little more difficult. The 29-year-old, who is doing his third season as a biathlete this year, has not got it at all, neither on the track nor on the shooting range. In the hunt start during the previous weekend, Nilsson missed half of all his shots, and finished last.

The national team coach John Luke believes that it is obvious that something is missing for Stina Nilsson, who now gets to take some Christmas leave and recharge.
– That extra speed hasn’t existed. At the same time, she showed in the shooting last year that she can do much better, now she needs to find her way back to peace and quiet on the dyke, says Lukas to Expressen.

“Good to forget”

When the flow is not there, it becomes tougher, he says.
– If it doesn’t go well, it becomes even more difficult, because you don’t have that confidence, he tells the newspaper.

Now it’s about forgetting the biathlon for a while, and then starting to focus fully on the competitions after the holiday.
– First of all, it is good to relax for a few days and forget biathlon. But then we have to rebuild with a new focus and work on towards the next competitions, concludes Johannes Lukas.
