The national team star leaves abroad and moves home – you can never guess which SHL club is the favorite…

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Magnus Nygren leaves Switzerland and HC Davos after the season.
The defender himself announces this on the club’s website – and at the same time rumors are started about a return to Färjestad.
– We have a positive dialogue, says Färjestad’s sporting director Rikard Wallin.

Since the summer of 2017 has Magnus Nygren played in the Swiss club HC Davos. But he won’t be doing that for much longer. The 32-year-old – who was team captain for one season for the club he made 233 games for – announces that he is leaving the club after the season.

Leaving after the season

Nygren announces that the moving load will be carried home to Sweden again.
– Our oldest daughter will start school next year and by moving home she will have the chance to go to school in Sweden. I have come to this decision together with my wife and we believe it is the right time to return home after weighing family life and my own sporting career.

He also says that there will be games in the SHL.
– I am 32 years old now and I still have the chance to perform at a good level in the SHL as long as I stay healthy.

“We are interested”

It is not a wild guess that the next club address for Nygren will be Färjestad, a club he has represented before and won SM gold with in 2011. He was also involved in winning WC bronze with Tre Kronor in 2014.

Färjestad’s sporting director also confirms that a dialogue is being held with Nygren.
– There is a dialogue. A positive dialogue. Yes of course. The fact that I have been as open as I have been on this subject is due to the fact that both Magnus and Jacob have such a clear connection to us. So it’s no wonder that we’re interested, then we’ll see what they themselves feel, says Wallin to Värmland’s Folkblad.
