The national team star has to undergo surgery and now misses the summer Olympics

He took part in winning the EC bronze in Germany last winter. But there won’t be any Olympic games for Kiel’s Eric Johansson.
Instead, the handball player must undergo surgery.

Union captain Glenn Solberg has thus left Eric Johnson outside the gross squad of 35 players for the Summer Games in Paris.

The final squad, 14 regulars and 3 reserves, will be drawn on 10 June.

The national team gathers in Spain 23 June–2 July and then in Eskilstuna from 12 July – where Egypt awaits on 18 July – before the journey to the Olympic city takes place on 23 July.

Sweden plays its first match on July 27, against Germany. Then Spain, Slovenia, Croatia and Japan await.

It was already clear that Sävehof’s goalkeeper Simon Möller – who injured his cruciate ligament in the SC final against Ystad – will miss the Olympics.
