The national team skater’s new words about Frida Karlsson, whom everyone loves – can make the long-awaited choice: “It feels…”

Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Linn Svahn have all made the national ski team.
But now the stars seem close to a return.
– It feels positive, says Moa Ilar to SVT.

It was the biggest talk of the year in skiing Sweden last year. After disappointment in contract negotiations, Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist, two of winter Sweden’s biggest stars, chose to leave the national team for a venture on their own.

New words about Frida

Previously, Linn Svahn had also made the same choice, and since then there have been huge discussions, both internally and externally, about what the national team could have done differently, to keep the stars in the training groups. But Karlsson and Dahlqvist have at the same time been open to the possibility that a return is possible. And now it seems, by and large, to be clear.

On Thursday, the national team’s squads for the coming season will be taken out, and then a final announcement will be made as to whether Karlsson, Dahlqvist and Svahn have agreed with the national team or not. But national team skier Moa Ilar takes a bright view of the situation.

– It feels positive, she tells SVT.

Great gratitude

The national team has always been open that they want the best skaters in the national team, and now the matter seems resolved – something Ilar also hints at.

– I hope so. It feels like we have good energy in the group and we have had a fantastically good season behind us. I think it will be a big and nice team, says Ilar.

At the same time, Moa Ilar is grateful for what Frida Karlsson and others have done, and that it led to something good.

– Their way of choosing to stand outside has opened the eyes of the management in terms of taking the riders very seriously. I believe and hope that their criticism has been well received and that we have managed it in the best way, says Ilar.
