C8 will disappear from TNT at the end of February. The chain that will replace it is now known.
After the announcement by the Arcom of the exclusion of C8 and NRJ12 of the TNT, as of February 28, two new entrants were selected in December to occupy the vacant frequencies: a project carried by the Ouest-France group and Another by CMI France, the media holding company of the Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky. The channels were also revised on the entire TNT.
Concretely, Canal 8 will fall to Public Senate, which will go back to the list with other info channels. The Ouest-France chain will therefore inherit Canal 19 in September and that of CMI France of Canal 18, but from June 6. Its leaders, Denis Olivennes and Christopher Baldelli, have revealed exclusively Le Figaro The first details of this new television project. Starting with his name.
First presented as “real TV”, then renamed “CMI TV”, the chain therefore found its final name. “We have chosen simplicity. The chain will be called T18. T as a television, because we believe in this media. And 18, which corresponds to our numbering,” simply told Christopher Baldelli to Le Figaro. A name “distinctive, clear and easy to remember”, completes Denis Olivennes.
The logo and graphic identity of this new channel, as well as the “sound design” will soon be revealed. But initial information on the content was given. T18 will be addressed in priority to the general public and in particular the 25-49 year olds as well as to CSP+, two very popular targets of advertisers. The programs will articulate around three pillars: documentaries, which will occupy 50% of the hourly volume, entertainment and debates.
CMI has promised Arcom 3000 hours of documentaries per year, 1000 hours of info or societal magazines, 20 art films and tests and 25 captures in the first part of the evening. T18 will also broadcast “a daily program of debate on weekdays, a weekly meeting dedicated to culture and literature … and 1260 hours of unpublished”, writes Le Figaro.
Several big names are expected to embody the chain, from other CMI or exterior media, such as Raphaël Enthoven, Ava Djamshidi or Caroline Fourest. But for Denis Olivennes, independence prevails, even if the launch of T18 is “in an industrial project, that of creating a multimedia group” around the various assets of Daniel Kretinsky in France, which include magazines Elle, Marianne and TV 7 days.
With an annual budget of more than 30 million euros, T18 intends to offer quality programs and “will not make second -class television”, finally promises Christopher Baldelli, who refuses to do “trash tv”, Even if it means losing money at first. An anti-C8?
