The film adaptation of the cult Broadway musical revealed its first images during the Superbowl. Check out the trailer for the first part of “Wicked”.
“It’s time to try defying gravity.” If these words sung by Indina Menzel mean anything to you, this film is definitely for you. On November 27, 2024, spectators will be able to dive back into the Land of Oz to discover the past of Glinda and Elphaba, the two witches met by Dorothy. It is also the starting point of the musical comedy Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz which Jon M. Chu adapts here for the big screen.
In the USA, Wicked is a real phenomenon. Created in 2003, this Broadway musical received three Tony Awards and a Grammy Awards and became one of the great classics of American musicals. It is therefore no surprise that Hollywood is interested in proposing an adaptation. Cynthia Erivo (The color purple on Broadway, Harriet) now lends her features to Elphaba, the “Wicked Witch” of Oz, while Ariana Grande has been chosen to play Glinda.
If the first part of the musical comes out in cinemas in France on November 27, 2024, the second is scheduled for 2025. In the meantime, you can discover the first images of Wickedunveiled during the Superbowl this Sunday, February 11, below.
