The museum director worked closely with Lisa Larson: “A cultural treasure she leaves behind”

On Monday, the news came that the artist and ceramist Lisa Larson had passed away, aged 92.

Elna Svenle, museum director of Vandalorum, has worked closely with her in recent years on an exhibition that opened last year.

– It is actually one of our most visited exhibitions ever.

Elna Svenle tells us that her art succeeds in attracting all generations. Everything from an inveterate art audience to the general public.

– It is truly a cultural treasure that she leaves behind.

The antiques expert: “One of our most popular”

Lisa Larson was active as a ceramicist for over seven decades, and Kulturnyheternas Ika Johannesson describes her as incredibly important.

– There are very few ceramicists who are loved by the people in the way that she has been.

Her sculptures are not only popular in Sweden but also internationally.

– She was completely shocked by the interest that showered her from all over the world. Especially in Japan she is huge because her style is like kawaii. It fits great

Ika Johannesson says that some antique dealers have even stopped selling her figurines to Japan.

– So everything doesn’t disappear there.

Antikrundan’s expert Knut Knutson remembers how he himself started collecting the Lisa Larson figurines as a young boy.

– She has become one of our most popular artists, he says.
