The murdered woman in Umeå asked for help – sent messages to friends

The woman had come home from her night job before she was attacked by the man who was living with her at the time.

The police investigation shows that the woman’s phone connected to her Wi-Fi at 02.07. At 07.08-07.09 she sent three text messages to a friend in which she asked for immediate help: “I need immediate help from you”, “Now”, and “Are you awake?” read the three messages.

Suspected murder at Haga

  • The violence, the evidence and the relationship – three questions about the murder of Haga

  • The woman is strangled and stabbed – 29-year-old is charged with the murder of Haga in Umeå

  • Half an hour later, she sent another message to a male acquaintance, again asking for help. However, he did not answer the message until 11.54, when the woman was already dead.

Made observations through the letter throw

The friend lived in the same house as the woman, but did not see the text message until about two hours later when she woke up. She answered the woman’s texts, but when she didn’t get a response, she became worried and went to the woman’s apartment with her partner to see what she needed help with.

    – There they make certain observations outside and through the letter drop and finally they see how the defendant leaves the victim’s residence. They then start interacting with each other and outside, the defendant expresses that he killed her when asked directly, says prosecutor Anna Lundberg.

    Alive until 08.27

Only at 08.27, i.e. 50 minutes after the victim contacted her other friend, does the last activity take place on her mobile phone.

    – We cannot really answer what happens in detail between this time. I only know when she asked for help and when her phone is no longer in use and make the logical conclusion that as long as the phone is active, she is alive, says Anna Lundberg.
