During Monday evening, a light demonstration was held in Landskrona to honor the memory of the 14-year-old girl who is suspected of having been murdered last week.
– It was an atmospheric gathering of deeply affected Landskrona residents, everything from family and friends, to municipal councilors and politicians, says TV4 Nyhetern’s Mikael Nilsson, who was present at the demonstration.
Many people had gathered at Rådhustorget in Landskrona to participate in the memorial ceremony. Candles and bouquets of flowers could be seen around a fountain in the square. Heidi Bergqvist is one of those who took the initiative for the demonstration. She says that together with a friend she came up with the idea of organizing a lighting ceremony.
– I think what has happened is terrible. That it happens among children, it shouldn’t have to. So we are here today to show our compassion, light a candle and give our thought, she says.
“We show that it is not right that it turned out the way it did”
Many in Landskrona are still shocked, the sadness is great and people wonder how it could happen. Isabella Pelland was also there to give the murdered girl a thought and light a candle.
– I think what we are doing here is very nice. When you look around, there is really hope for humanity, there are so many who don’t know her who are here and we show that it is not right that it turned out the way it did, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.
Three criminal suspects
It was shortly after midnight, on the night of Tuesday, July 23, that the police found a lifeless girl at the old railway station in Landskrona. Despite life-saving efforts, her life could not be saved. According to the police, the girl had been subjected to serious violence and they opened an investigation into suspected murder.
A total of three people are criminal suspects in the case. A girl who is under 15 years old is suspected of murder. So does a 15-year-old girl who is also in custody. A third person is suspected of aggravated protection of a criminal.
All three involved know each other and, according to the prosecutor, “certain consents have been made and information has been provided about the background to the act”.
When asked if there was a conflict before the murder, prosecutor Tomas Olvmyr replies:
– If you had someone killed, you weren’t friends before, I haven’t said more than that.
