Saga, 20, was looking forward to becoming a mother.
But two months before she was to give birth to her son, she was murdered.
Now the boyfriend Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim, 22, is sentenced to life in prison.
Two lives were extinguished on the bedroom floor in the apartment in Örebro.
Saga was found strangled to death, with a lamp cord around her neck, on April 29 last year. She was seven months pregnant with a boy.
Relatives had not been able to find the soon-to-be mother and went to her residence, where she was found murdered.
On the same day, Saga’s boyfriend, Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim, was arrested.
On Wednesday, he was sentenced by the Örebro district court to life imprisonment for murder.
The prosecutor believes that the motive for killing pregnant Saga was honor, an image that the district court also shares.
– The prosecutor has shown through robust evidence that the 22-year-old murdered his pregnant girlfriend and that the fetus in the stomach died as a result. The prosecutor has also shown that the murder was honor-related, which the district court considers to be an aggravating assessment of the penalty value. says the court’s chairman Lars-Gunnar Lundh in a press release.
Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim, who was to become the father of the child, intended to tell his family the night before the murder that he had a relationship with Saga and that they would become parents. But instead he made his way to Saga’s apartment and murdered her and their common child, who at the time was healthy, 44 centimeters long and 1.7 kilos heavy.
According to the prosecutor, the reason was that Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim’s family did not allow him to “meet a white girl” let alone have a child with someone outside their culture. In the investigation, there is nothing to indicate that the boyfriend’s family was involved in the murder. Nor that he even told his family what he intended to tell.
In conversations it appears that Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim tried to persuade Saga to have an abortion.
But Saga was looking forward to becoming a mother.
