The murder of Mikael – suspected the 18-year-old: “Is hanged”

For the first time, the 18-year-old who is suspected of having shot dead Mikael, 39, was heard today.
He refused to answer questions in the courtroom but admits he was at the crime scene.
– I am accused and hanged as a murderer, which is not true, he says.

39-year-old Mikael was shot to death in an underpass in Skärholmen in April last year after he confronted a group of young people. This before the eyes of his then twelve-year-old son.

In the trial about the murder, the main suspect, the 18-year-old, was heard for the first time on Wednesday. He refused to answer the questions in the courtroom but admits that he was at the crime scene.

– I am accused and hanged as a murderer, which is not true. I have little understanding of why it has become so based on the circumstances of the investigation and a lot of preconceived notions about me. By that I don’t mean that I’m spotless, but I have a messy background and it happens that I stay in inappropriate environments with mischievous people, so to speak. But that hardly makes me a murderer, he says.

Was at the crime scene

The 18-year-old sat at the front of the security room when he was heard – and was very quiet when the questions were asked. Mikael’s son, who saw the murder, points out the 18-year-old as the one who shot his father to death with several shots.

– I want to admit that I was at the crime scene when the murder took place and I witnessed a lot. But the thing is that I don’t feel comfortable going into details, says the 18-year-old.

He believes that he has been pre-judged because of what people think of him. The other four who are indicted on suspicion of aggravated protection of a criminal do not want to identify the perpetrator and say they did not see the murder.

– I don’t single anyone out, I don’t say names and it’s for my own safety. I am afraid, says one of the defendants.

According to the prosecutor, the act was particularly reckless as the murder took place in front of the eyes of Mikael’s young son. An important part of the evidence is the son’s testimony. According to the police preliminary investigation, the murder was not planned.

Criticism from relatives

For the relatives who were present, it was difficult to hear how the defendants do not want to give a clear picture of the fatal shooting. One of them was Mikael’s brother-in-law Elias Demir.

– In my head, it’s like this. We know that three people have been at that location. All three know what has happened. If they don’t want to point out, fine, don’t do it, but then I think everyone should be judged. Everyone is guilty of murder. If they don’t want to talk, then everyone is judged. Everyone has been the shooter and committed this crime, he says.
