– I deeply regret what I did, says the 45-year-old woman in questioning.

She was described as a rock in the family and at work. A happy and exuberant person who loved both music and food but most of all her children.

The morning of April 7 would be her last in life.

Then Marlin, 50, went to his parked car in the residential area of Upplands-Bro to go to work.

There she was attacked with a hammer and knife.

A stab to the heart was fatal.

The life drained from Marlin at the same time as her attacker fled the scene in a car.

“Has stabbed my friend”

A short time later, SOS received a call from a 45-year-old woman.

The operator who took the call asked what had happened.

– Hello, I stabbed my friend, was the reply.

Now the woman was sitting in the car on the way away from the crime scene and told where the police could come and pick her up.

Almost immediately she told us about her motive.

After 18 years of friendship, the 45-year-old had begun to suspect that Marlin, with whom she worked, was standing in the way of her chances of getting a new job. Despite a manager trying to explain to the 45-year-old that it wasn’t right, she was firmly convinced.

Even when she sought out Marlin in the parking lot, she had already decided to hurt her, she told the hearing.

She had brought the hammer and knife from her home.

– I know I want to hurt her, but first of all I want to confront her and ask questions. But then things went off the rails, says the 45-year-old in questioning.

Accused of murder

The woman has admitted serious assault and causing the death of another but has now been charged with murder.

– I have made the assessment to bring charges for murder based on the damage picture. It is an isolated incident of violence and a very sad case, says chamber prosecutor Eva Twengström.

The investigation shows that for some time Marlin felt threatened by the 45-year-old and that she also told managers about it. She was allegedly asked to file a police report but never did.

– There has been no direct concrete threat other than that she has experienced that it was unpleasant, says Twengström.

The 45-year-old has undergone a minor psychiatric examination. According to the prosecutor, it shows that one can suspect a mental disorder at the time of the act.

– You can probably assume that the accused will undergo a larger investigation if the district court finds that the evidence is convincing regardless of classification, says Twengström.

In questioning, the 45-year-old woman has expressed her regret.

– If I could only turn back the clock to Thursday, April 7, I would have done it. Because I had wished that she had been allowed to live and lead a normal normal life and so did I, she said in a hearing in May.

Aftonbladet has searched in vain for the 45-year-old’s defender. To DN writes the lawyer in a text message:

“She feels very bad about what has happened and has participated throughout the investigation to clarify the course of events.”
