Among other things, the prosecution argued that the defendant and the murdered were in the apartment at the same time of the murder, based on their movement patterns in an app on the phone and that there were footprints at the crime scene allegedly belonging to the defendant.

The Court of Appeal approves – not beyond a reasonable doubt

But the Court of Appeal states that it is beyond reasonable doubt that it was the 24-year-old who was in the apartment at the time of the murder. There may have been others who had both the opportunity and motive to commit the murder and that there were other shoe prints in the apartment. A witness is also said to have seen the man who was later murdered go out with the dog after the defendant allegedly left the apartment.

Final judgment

The Supreme Court has decided not to try the case further and the 24-year-old is now released. He has requested a total of 600,000 in compensation from the state for the deprivation of liberty.
