The municipality reports the chairman after noted wrong decisions

SVT has previously reported on the case surrounding the teenage girl in Nynäshamn municipality, which has disappeared abroad. The news has aroused strong reactions and the opposition has demanded the Social Committee’s chairman Christina Sönnergren’s (M) departure.

The incident was investigated by an external lawyer who directed harsh criticism of the municipality’s handling of the case, and the social administration also contacted Sweden’s municipalities and regions to consult whether a police report should be made. It was then landed that it was up to the Social Committee to make that decision.

The Social Committee has now decided to instruct the chairman of the Social Committee for suspicions of service failure on the basis of what has emerged in the Lex Sarah investigation. An employee at the Social Security who was relevant in the case will also be reported.

– It is very regrettable what has happened and we want to demand responsibility. Making a decision on the police report is not easy to do, but the legal must have its way even if it is a friend or colleague, says Roland Junerud (S), 2nd Deputy Chairman of the Social Committee who participated in the decision.

Can lead to timeout

SVT is looking for Christina Sönnergren for a comment. She has previously been remorseful and said that decisions were wrong but that it was taken in a stressed situation.

The municipal council’s chairman Marcus Svinhufvud (M) notes that several measures have been taken to avoid something similar happening again. Among other things, politicians in the Social Committee will be trained on honor -related violence.

– It is important that we make the police report and that is also the recommendation we have received from Skr to do.

Can the chairman continue in his role?

– We can’t decide on it now. If the notification leads to a preliminary investigation, Christina will take a timeout.
