The municipality of Ljusdal receives just over two million to overcome school absenteeism

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The problematic absence from school is not about single hours here and there, but major absences over a longer period of time. The money is aimed at children aged 13 to 16. To help with working with absences, the municipality already has an absence ladder that all principals and school units work on.

– This can further promote and become a larger project in collaboration with social services, says Ann Lindgren, deputy head of the education administration in Ljusdal municipality.

The money is used to hire staff

Now the municipality employs two people who will counteract the absence. In the first place, the money is to be used for a secondary school.

– Their mission will be to develop a model to reduce absenteeism, which will then be applied to several school units.

In the municipality of Ljusdal, there are between 15 and 20 people who need more help with their absence from school.
