In the clip: hear what municipal employees in Jönköping say about the fact that a wellness allowance of SEK 2,000 is in the works.
It is in a service letter that the city office proposes that Jönköping municipality should introduce a wellness allowance of SEK 2,000 per year and employee. To receive a share of the money, the employee must cover 25 percent of the cost themselves. In a review conducted by SVT Nyheter Jönköping in December, only Eksjö and Jönköping of the municipalities in Jönköping County did not have a health care allowance for their employees.
The union is positive about the wellness proposal
Today, municipal employees in Jönköping can train for free at the municipality’s swimming and training facilities once a week. That benefit is removed and a general health care allowance is proposed instead.
– We are very happy that the municipality is now proposing this, we have fought for this as a union for many years, says David Eriksson, chairman of Vision in Jönköping.
If the proposal is approved, it will become a reality from January 1, 2024. The proposal also includes increasing the value of the gift certificate that employees receive after 25 years of service from SEK 6,000 to SEK 8,000. All municipal employees must also be able to take PSA tests, cytology tests and give blood during paid working hours.
The municipality’s representatives write that they have drawn up the proposals in order to be able to offer equivalent benefits for their employees, regardless of which business they belong to.
