Two children and a woman died in the accident outside Kristianstad. The children were only found when the car was to be recovered after the emergency services had left the scene.
Kristianstad municipality will now investigate the accident because the rescue service is organized under the municipality, reports TV4 News.
– How did it happen? How could we have missed the children? We have to look at that calmly and we have to let it take time, says Malin Bergkvist, communications strategist at the municipality, to TV4.
The Swedish Transport Administration will also investigate the fatal accident.
– All fatal accidents are investigated, where we look at all parts to get an overall picture, says Katarina Wolffram, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration, to Kristianstadsbladet.
– The purpose is not to find out if someone has done something wrong, but to see if there is something we can do to prevent something similar from happening again, she continues.
Katarina Wolffram says that parts of the investigation are often done together with the police, but the Swedish Transport Administration also does its own analyses.
