The first to change numbers are Torsås, Emmaboda and Kalmar, where the change should be completed already on Monday next week.
In November, the remaining municipalities will also exchange their numbers. The change means, for example, that telephone numbers for Kalmar municipality will no longer start with 0480 but instead with 010.
If you call the old numbers in Torsås, Emmaboda or Kalmar municipality next week, you will be connected or directed to the right number. Internal mobile numbers will not change.
Make it easier to collaborate
According to the municipalities’ own information, the number change is done as part of the KLLOK agreement, where the goal is to make cooperation between the municipalities easier, for example in crisis cooperation.
One of the advantages of the change is that 010 numbers are not tied to a geographical location, as earlier 04 numbers were. This makes it possible for the municipalities to take over each other’s switchboards in the event that one of the municipalities is down or is exposed to, for example, a cyber attack.
Two municipalities do not switch now
Nybro and Borgholm will not exchange their 04 number at this time. Nybro is not part of the KLLOK agreement and will therefore not adapt accordingly, while Borgholm will eventually change its internal numbers at the municipality as a preparation for a number change later.
