The municipal council: Was it wrong to open a nursing home in Misterhult again

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

During Tuesday, the investigation into the old Ängsbacken nursing home in Misterhult, which is still empty, was on the politicians’ table in the municipal board’s committee for business, labor market and technical activities (KSNAT).

According to the investigation, a new opening would cost around SEK 9 million, and the cost per resident would be significantly higher than at other nursing homes in the municipality. But the way the administration calculated and outlined how the accommodation would be designed in the event of a new opening has already met with criticism from residents in Misterhult.

Decisions are postponed

The politicians decided on Tuesday to postpone a decision on the matter until the next municipal board meeting, and then they also want to see a clearer basis for how the administration calculated the cost per user.

But municipal councilor Lucas Lodge (M), despite that, lands in the same position as the administration itself.

– It would be wrong to open again, he says.

Watch him explain why in the clip.

To be discussed within the party

The question must now be taken to the Moderates’ party group for discussion and a dialogue must also be held with the partner party the Social Democrats about what stance to take moving forward.
