The municipality of Kiruna wanted to build the hospital next to Kiruna’s future travel center – at the Nikkalouktaro roundabout. The region, in turn, wanted to build the hospital at Tuolluvaaratornen.
“Important not to get stuck”
The dispute over where the hospital should stand has been protracted. How will you catch up in that work?
– It is important not to lock yourself into something just for the principle. From the municipality’s side, we say that it doesn’t really matter where the hospital is located – the important thing is that it gets there, says one of Kiruna’s municipal councillors, Emilia Töyrä (S).
Want to build as soon as possible
Töyrä continues:
– Exactly where the hospital ends up in relation to the city center is not that important. Therefore, we are prepared to look at more solutions – everything for the new hospital must be ready as soon as possible.
