The municipal council is prepared to equip the Södra school in Sveg

– It is just as well to get it done when the school is now evacuated anyway, he says.

Södra school in Sveg suffered water damage when storm Hans hit last week – the municipal management then chose to close the school until further notice.

Even before the storm, there were major problems with the school premises, some spaces were already condemned and closed for teaching.

Extended discussion about school

According to municipal councilor Lars-Gunnar Nordlander, the reason why the maintenance has been delayed is due, among other things, to a long and protracted discussion about what the school structure should look like.

– It is unfortunate that it dragged on.

The municipal councilor Lars-Gunnar Nordlander says that the responsibility lies with the municipality but that there is now a plan for the school’s future, he also says that some premises at the school are in such bad condition that they have to be demolished.

Södra skolan in Sveg houses the junior high school and Härjedalen’s high school, which together have around 380 students.
