The MTP Council: Patients may continue to pay for weighted blankets themselves

Two years ago, the Halland region decided to stop prescribing weighted blankets to people who suffer from anxiety and sleep problems, because, according to the Medical Product Council (MTP Council), there was not enough research on the effect of weighted blankets.

But despite new research now available, the MTP council does not change its recommendations.

See the MTP council’s response to SVT Nyheter Halland in the clip above.

The University of Halmstad recently came out with a study that shows that weighted blankets can be an aid for children with ADHD and sleep problems.

But that does not change the MTP Council’s recommendations that the regions should not prescribe weight blankets.
