“The autumn was really, really heavy. I have a long way to go and when I come back I no longer want to do it as a mouthpiece”, wrote Märta Stenevi on Instagram and announced that she is leaving her post as spokesperson for the Green Party.
The party’s office immediately after this started the planning process for the upcoming extra party congress to choose a new female spokesperson. It takes place on April 28.
And on Sunday, the Green Party’s national election committee presented its proposal during a press conference – former culture and democracy minister Amanda Lind.
– Amanda’s involvement is many years old and she has deep roots in the green movement, says the chairman of the election committee Louise Arndt.
Amanda Lind is proposed as a new spokesperson
Amanda Lind is one of three MP politicians who have announced that she is a candidate for the post. Since the last parliamentary election, she has been chairman of the culture committee.
– Warm thanks to the National Election Committee for your trust, she says.
Amanda Lind has previously held several important posts in the party. She has also been a municipal councilor in Härnösand and in 2016–2019 she was party secretary for the Green Party.
May collaborate with Daniel Helldén
The other two MP politicians who have said they want to become a new mouthpiece are the party’s economic policy spokesperson Janine Alm Ericson, as well as the party’s group leader in the Riksdag Annika Hirvonen – who lost to Stenevi in the fight for the mouthpiece post in 2021.
Janine Alm Ericson also ran in 2021, but dropped out after the election committee suggested Märta Stenevi. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2015 and also sits on MP’s party board.
Whoever takes over the task after Märta Stenevi must lead the party together with Daniel Helldén, who was elected as the new male spokesperson in November, after Per Bolund announced in June last year that he would leave the post.
