The MP votes no to the government’s NATO proposal – submits its own

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Green Party will vote no to the government’s NATO proposal and present its own, reports Sweden’s Radio Ekot. The Riksdag must vote on changing the law to enable entry into the defense alliance. The Green Party, which is fundamentally critical of NATO, will put forward its own proposal, where it wants a ban in law against bringing nuclear weapons into Sweden. Such a law already exists in Finland, which together with Sweden has now applied for membership in NATO. Preliminarily, the Riksdag will vote on the bill on March 22. Six out of eight parties support the law. The Green Party and the Left Party, with 42 of the Riksdag’s 349 mandates, will vote no. Hear more about the news in the player above.
