the mother sentenced to life imprisonment her justifications ignored

The verdict of the trial of Amandine’s mother, Sandrine P., and her father-in-law, Jean-Michel C., tried for having allowed the young girl to die of starvation has been reached. Both were found guilty by the courts.

This Friday, January 24, the trial of Sandrine P. and Jean-Michel C., accused of having let Amandine, 13 years old, die of starvation, whose body was found in 2020 at the family home in a rickety state (she weighed only more than 28 kilos for 1m55), took place. Amandine’s mother, Sandrine Pissara, was sentenced to life imprisonment with 20 years of security. For the young girl’s father-in-law, Jean-Michel Cros, a sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment was handed down, according to BFMTV. Both were found guilty.

I am “a monstrous mother”

As a reminder, Tuesday evening, Amandine’s mother recognized the “acts of torture and barbarity” on her daughter. Thursday, she also returned to the “slaps” inflicted on her daughter. “Yes, hair pulling, that happened to me,” she also conceded. On the other hand, she justifies her actions “because she looked like her father”, and she assures him: Amandine “ate what she wanted”. An analysis difficult to hear after the autopsy of the body and the testimonies of the victim’s little brother (Ethan) and big sister (Ambre), indicating in particular that their sister was undernourished. Ethan sometimes even tried to get her food “under the door” of the storage room in which she was locked.

Also this Thursday, before the Montpellier Assize Court, Sandrine P. indicated that she was “a monstrous mother”, but that she loved her daughter. “I never wanted her to die,” she said, crying. However, she maintains that she no longer remembers this period during which her daughter suffered her torture.

She admits to having been beaten herself as a child

Regarding the punishments she gave her daughter, Sandrine P. “told her to go downstairs”. “In the same room, Amandine and Ambre were arguing,” continues the mother, saying she “turned a blind eye to the state” of her daughter’s health. “She asked you for food, water?” asks the president. “I don’t know anymore,” replies Sandrine P.

She also confirmed the fact that she punished her daughter “for everything”, before giving more details about her childhood, which could be at the origin of her actions. She describes a childhood as a little girl who was beaten and malnourished. “We were three children, my mother complained about not having enough money. I was beaten. Slaps, slaps, humiliation. I was ashamed to talk about it,” she says.
