The mother of Mikael’s son talks about the first day of the trial

On Monday, Isabell Tinred met the five young men who have been charged as suspects after the murder of Mikael, 39 – her son’s father.
In an interview in Efter fem, she talks about the first day of the trial, a day that opened up old wounds.
– It was terribly heavy, it has been difficult to hold together, she says.

Mikael was shot to death in front of his son when they were on their way to the swimming hall in Skärholmen last year. On Monday, the trial against the five accused young men began.

Isabell Tinred, who is the mother of Mikael’s son, today met the suspected perpetrators in the courtroom – an experience that became emotional.

“Taken back to that day”

– It was extremely heavy, it was difficult to hold together, and there have been many tears, says Isabell Tinred.

She says she had a physical reaction during the trial.

– It felt like I was brought back to that day – the images, the emotions and how I reacted with tremors and feeling frozen.

She ponders what might have led the young men to commit the murder.

– When I looked at them, I thought: “They are so young. What has happened in their lives that led them to do something so terrible?”

“Loved his dad – his dad was his everything”

Isabell’s son, who witnessed the murder of his father, did not want to go to school today. He was both sad and angry.

– It tears open these wounds again. He is not done with this, he will always have this wound and miss his father. He loved his father. His father was his everything.

After the murder of Mikael, Isabell Tinred entered what she describes as a fog. She doesn’t remember what people around her said – the only thing that mattered was being there for her son.

– I quickly contacted a psychologist, but he chose not to continue with it. He thought it felt better to talk to me, his cousins and Mikael’s family. It has worked for us.

She says that the son has worked with his feelings and that he has come a long way.

– He started a new school after the autumn, he has made friends and plays football. He even cooks for us twice a week. He used to cook with his father and he loved to do it.

Tinred: Do whatever it takes for my son – he’s my role model

Although it hurts right now, she is convinced that the future is bright for both of them.

– It will hurt and take time, but I will do what is necessary for my son to have a good future. I know we can get through anything. He is my role model, if he can do it, I can do it.
