The mother of four’s struggle in South Sudan: “We are always hungry”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The heavy floods that hit South Sudan have led to a severe famine in the country.

At a camp in Benntiu, the TV4 News team meets the mother of four, Nyapuok Tuol, who is cooking dinner.

– Before, we grew on our farm and always had food. After we escaped the floods, the food is never enough. We are always hungry, she says.

Close to a million South Sudanese have been forced from their homes after the heavy rains and around 160,000 have sought refuge in the Benntiu camp.

“The food we get here is not enough”

The UN and other aid organizations are on site, but the aid is far from enough.

– The food we get here is not enough. As you can see, the lack of food has made many of the children malnourished, says Kasare Both Giling, Bentiu refugee councillor.
