The mother of a German soccer player opened up about

The mother of world soccer champion Jerome Boateng has written to his lawyer about the cases of abuse committed by her son.

German national team soccer player and world champion Jerome Boateng, 35, has been buzzing around for the past few years. Boateng’s story to the top of football has been considered a rags-to-riches type of fairy tale.

However, since 2021, the news about Boateng has had nothing to do with the fairy tale or his game performances.

Now German magazine Der Spiegel has published messages in which the soccer star’s mother Martina Boateng describes her son’s actions to her lawyer.

– For years, my son has abused women psychologically and physically. Kasia Lenhardt took his own life, and he still does not want to suffer the consequences of his behavior, Martina Boateng wrote.

Lenhardt, 25, was a Polish model and a finalist on Germany’s Top Model Wanted TV show. She was found dead in her home in February 2021, about a week after she had split from her relationship with Boateng. The two managed to be together for more than a year.

Case still unsolved

After the incident, it has emerged that Boateng forced Lenhardt into silence and threatened him with violence. Before the split, the couple signed a non-disclosure and non-disclosure agreement on Boateng’s terms and only relating to Lenhardt, dated January 2021.

Boateng is currently playing professionally for Salernitana in the Italian Serie A. At the beginning of February, he signed a contract with the club covering the current season.

According to Der Spiegel, it is unclear whether the court will ever resolve the case of Boateng and Lenhardt in light of the crimes they are charged with. The newspaper’s coverage reveals that Boateng’s behavior during the relationship is still being investigated, three years after Lenhardt’s death.

Boateng’s lawyer told Der Spiegel in a message in March 2024 that due to the ongoing investigation, Boateng is currently not giving interviews.

Lawsuit for abuse by a previous partner

In 2019, Boateng was indicted by his former partner by Sherin Shenler of abuse. In 2021, Boateng was first sentenced to a 60-day fine for causing bodily harm. In November 2022, the court changed the sentence to a 120-day fine, which became 1.2 million euros to be paid with Boateng’s income.

Shenler said at the time that Boateng, among other things, hit and bit her and tore her hair during the couple’s vacation together in 2018.

Boateng has appealed the charges brought against him to the court. The Supreme Regional Court accepted the appeals in November 2023, and Boateng’s sentence will be heard in the summer of 2024.

Threats and blackmail

Martina Boateng has also said that her son also blackmailed her loved ones. Among other things, he has threatened that the relatives will not be allowed to see Boateng’s offspring if they testify against him in the trial.

Boateng has a total of three children, including twins with Shenler.

Martina Boateng said that at first it was difficult for her to turn against her son, but in the end she confirmed the allegations of long-term violence.

Boateng, who plays as a top player, has represented Bayern Munich for ten years in the seasons 2011–2021. In his career, he has won nine German championships and twice the Champions League. In 2014, he played in Germany’s World Cup-winning team and was voted Germany’s footballer of the year.
