The most successful US series is simply canceled and Kevin

While the series is far from being as well known in Germany, the epic western drama Yellowstone has developed over the years into the currently most successful US series. From the production with lead actor Kevin Costner, showrunner Taylor Sheridan has already built an entire universe with three ongoing series and more planned.

Recently, however, there has been a dispute between Costner and Sheridan behind the scenes. Now that was Yellowstone end officially announcedbut there is also good news.

After Kevin Costner’s end of Yellowstone, a sequel series is being developed

According to Variety, Yellowstone ends with the upcoming Season 5 Part 2, which starts in November in the US. As early as February 2023 we reported that behind the scenes of the Yellowstone production there were always cracks. The reason for this is Costner’s planned mega-project Horizon with him as director and star. It should several films with a total running time of 11 hours include. In return, the star demanded fewer and fewer Yellowstone days of filming.

Now the cancellation after the 5th season is certain, but unsurprisingly those responsible do not give up the successful series universe. In addition to the already published offshoots 1883 and 1923, a sequel series to Yellowstone without Costner is now in development. Recently it has been speculated that Taylor Sheridan wants to replace the departing star with Matthew McConaughey.

In November 2022, it was announced that Yellowstone was now officially the top-grossing TV series in the United States, with 12.1 million viewers at the Season 4 premiere. It remains to be seen how Costner’s exit will affect the success of the planned sequel series. Podcast: The 20 best series starts in May on Netflix, Amazon and more
