If you didn’t sleep completely in 2021, you couldn’t avoid Squid Game. The controversial Korean series about a murderous game is the highest-grossing Netflix series of all time, according to Variety, among others. Season 2 is coming of course. But the start date has apparently been postponed.
Squid Game Season 2 will no longer be coming to Netflix in 2024
More than a year ago, Squid Game maker Dong-hyuk Hwang said he was planning to launch Season 2 on Netflix in 2024. Apparently that was a hasty assessment. As a lineup on What’s on Netflix shows now, New episodes are not expected until 2025.
Fans have been waiting for a sequel for almost two years. And it may be another two years before Season 2 is available on Netflix. However, this is no comparison to the first season: As the Wall Street Journal reports, it took over 10 years to publish Squid Game.
Squid Game Season 1 revolves around Seong Gi-Hun (Jung-Jae Lee) who takes part in a mysterious game in order to escape constant lack of money and be able to support his daughter. He realizes too late the cruel trade he has embarked on.
