An MMORPG from Germany is more successful than ever despite its old age. Well, around 28 years after the release, the game even gets a new class.
Which game is this about? We are talking about Tibia. The Fantasy MMORPG is developed by CipSoft in Regensburg and originally appeared in 1997. Despite its old age, the developer was able to record record profits last year (via games management).
Since the release, which has been 28 years ago, players of the MMORPG have only been 4 vocations – the classes in Tibia – are called to choose from: druid, knight, magician and paladin. A 5th vocation will soon be added with the monk.
The class inspired by Buddhist warrior monks becomes a melee with support and healing abilities. You can see a short teaser here:

What can the new class do? The monk relies on a mix of martial arts and mystical skills. It can lend allied buffs and heal them, while in the fight he can effectively hand out damage with mere fists-he is the first class in Tibia, which primarily uses the fist fight skill in the game for around 20 years.
The new vocation also brings several gameplay mechanics with it:
Why is the new class coming so late? Before the decision to bring a new class into play, the developers have been resisting for a long time. Of course, it should fit into the world and represent a strong option compared to the existing classes, but no displace.
On February 25th there should be a first play test for the monk. However, he will officially join the game at the earliest in the second quarter of 2025.
A few weeks ago, some interesting statistics on the MMORPG Tibia were published. If you are interested in which the deadliest opponent is involved and even more, then read on here: Players of a German MMORPG sells his character for the equivalent of around 41,000 euros
