Keanu Reeves was last seen in the movie John Wick: Chapter 4. But the most successful film with the actor is neither John Wick nor The Matrix. In fact, an animated film that starred Keanu Reeves made the most money.

What film is it about? Keanu Reeves was one of the voice actors who took part in Toy Story 4 (alternatively: A Toy Story: Everything answers no command). The film was shown in cinemas internationally in 2019. In the Pixar hit, Reeves voices the action-packed biker Duke Caboom.

This is what Toy Story 4 is about:

  • Bonnie makes a new toy called Forky, which sees itself as more than trash

    • The film has grossed over $1 billion, making it the 8th best feature film released in 2019 (via Box Office Mojo). For comparison: John Wick 4, the most financially successful film in the John Wick series, only grossed around $430 million.

    Accordingly, the most financially successful film with Keanu Reeves is not a film with which we would directly associate the actor, but rather an animated film in which the actor cannot even be seen in the flesh. And even with John Wick, it wasn’t clear at the time whether Reeves would get the role.

    Toy Story 4 was so successful that the animated film won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film in 2020.

    Toy Story 4 was also well received by the audience. The film currently has a rating of 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and even 97 percent among specialist audiences.

    Keanu Reeves in the role of Duke Caboom

    The role of Duke Cabook was tailor-made for Keanu Reeves. The actor fell in love with the film project and met with Pixar to better understand the making of the film.

    Producer Mark Nielsen explained that this conversation gave rise to Duke Caboom’s obsession with posing. In an interview, he revealed that Reeves suddenly climbed onto a table and stood in the middle, and the team then thought this was the perfect behavior for Duke Caboom (via 3djuegos.lat).

    Reeves revealed that he wanted to give Caboom the perfect voice. He thought about how the character would speak. That’s why Reeves says he gave him a gruff voice that was supposed to convey energy and personality.

    By the way: Toy Story 4 is not the first appearance of Duke Caboom. The action hero was briefly seen in 2018’s The Incredibles 2. However, he didn’t have any lines of dialogue at the time, which is why Reeves wasn’t heard in the film.
