What does Tarantino have to do with Casino Royale? Casino Royale is the perfect introduction to a new, harder and more grounded James Bond. With Daniel Craig we got the 007 we deserved for a long time, said Marco in his video.

But without Quentin Terentino and his plans for his own Casino Royale, you would never have gotten this film. As is well known, Casino Royale, the first novel about the popular agent, was not the first film.

The film history of James Bond begins in 1962 with “Dr. No” – the sixth book. A huge success that ultimately launched the longest-lasting film series in history. In his video, Marco talks about the different approaches that were implemented in the 60s. From the great successes with Sean Connery to a James Bond parody, a real disaster.

A catastrophe, but unfortunately it first secured the rights to Casino Royale, which is why they would be dormant for quite some time afterwards.

Tarantino wanted to get back closer to the original novel

In the 1990s, the then relatively new successful director Quentin Tarantino wanted to venture into Ian Fleming’s books. In his opinion, the films with Connery were good, but complete reinterpretations of the novels.

In his video, Marco talks about Tarantino’s idea of a remake of Casino Royale. This should be as close as possible to the uncompromising template. However, his dream was already nipped in the bud because Ian Fleming’s family secured the rights to all Bond stories in the meantime.

How did Casino Royale come about? Marco explains in his video how the famous Casino Royale ultimately came about. In 2004, Tarantino wanted to try again. Along with Pierce Brosnan, who he thought was a good James Bond.

It was supposed to be a film adaptation with an old Brosnan, filmed in black and white. The idea went viral at the time and media and fans loved the idea. Fleming’s family, however, did not give the rights to Tarantino. But she was convinced by the idea of a modernized Casino Royale.

The family members then implemented the idea without Tarantino. He doesn’t even appear in the credits. Instead, Casino Royale was made with Martin Campbell and Daniel Craig as Bond. A film that Quentin Tarantino still doesn’t want to have seen.

Cillian Murphy has been thrown into the ring as a suggestion for a new James Bond. Most recently he shone in another masterpiece: Afterwards you see Oppenheimer with different eyes
