With milestones like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, Francis Ford Coppola has made some of the most important works in film history. Over the decades he also planned a science fiction project that he was unable to realize until the end.
In 2024 Megalopolis, which Coppola financed entirely himself, has actually been shot and will be shown at this year’s after the first private screenings Cannes Film Festival public world premiere celebrate. When will the mysterious sci-fi hype Megalopolis come to the cinema?
Coppola’s hotly anticipated film so far no German cinema release yet, as no distributor has yet secured the rights to publish it. When Megalopolis was shown in Cannes in mid-May, there could quickly be new developments surrounding the science fiction film.
Megalopolis is about an architect (Adam Driver) who wants to rebuild a destroyed city. However, his utopian dreams are contrasted by reality in which the mayor (Giancarlo Esposito) takes action against the protagonist’s plans.
