Cutbacks at HBO Max and the reorganization of the DC Universe meant that one of the most anticipated Batman series was scrapped in mid-production – despite The Batman director Matt Reeves being behind the project.
It’s the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, which was conceived by Reeves as well as JJ Abrams and Bruce W. Timm. Timm is the co-creator of the legendary 1990s animated series Batman, which defined the image of the Dark Avenger with its dark and sophisticated style. The disappointment after the dismissal was correspondingly great. But now Amazon has saved the project.
